Review of Board Mission Statements

I choose to review the francophone school board I went to, Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud as well as, one more francophone school board to compare, Conseil scolaire de district catholique Franco-Nord. For the additional three I picked three that were close to home and possible school boards I may choose to work for one day, the Toronto Catholic District School Board, the Durham Catholic District School Board and the York Catholic District School Board.

School board Mission statement
Toronto Catholic District School Board The Toronto Catholic District School Board is an inclusive learning community rooted in the love of Christ. We educate students to grow in grace and knowledge and to lead lives of faith, hope and charity.
Durham Catholic District School Board We are called to celebrate and nurture the God-given talents of each student as we serve with excellence in the light of Christ.
York Catholic District School Board Guided by Gospel Values and Catholic Virtues, in partnership with home and Church, we educate and inspire all students to reach their full potential in a safe and caring environment.

Similarities:

  • All mission statements refer in some form to either God, Christ or the church.
  • They all talk about a form of Catholic community
  • To educate students in their faith in order for them to succeed.

Differences:

  • The French school boards also emphasize the francophone community.
  • DCDSB is the only board in my selection that doesn’t talk about the growth of the students.
  • Although they are all different in many ways, YCDSB specifically talks about a safe and caring environment however, I felt a sense of security from all of those messages

Mission Statement for my own personal School Board:

My mission is to provide a Catholic Education that will allow students to grow intellectually and spiritually. By promoting inclusivity and equity, students will feel a sense of belonging to the Catholic community allowing them to flourish to their full potential.
